Chevy Only Sold 180 Corvette ZR1s For The 2025 Model Year

The 2025 Corvette ZR1 is destined to be a collector’s item for more than one reason.
Production of the $175,195 supercar began in late May and just 180 were built before the end of the short model year on July 30th, according to the official production figures released by the National Corvette Museum.
Of those, 115 were coupes and 65 were convertibles. Pre-production models that weren’t sold to the public are included in the total, but the report doesn’t specify how many of them were built.
The total makes the 2025 ZR1 one of the rarest Corvette’s ever, but being from the first model year isn’t the only thing that makes them special. The 2026 Chevrolet Corvette lineup was updated with a new interior design, which replaced the car’s most unusual feature.
The eighth generation Corvette launched in 2020 with a buttress extending from the dashboard to the center console between the seats with a row of climate control buttons on top of it.

The 2026 car still has a buttress, but it is smaller and the climate controls have been moved to a more conventional location beneath a redesigned infotainment system touchscreen. Even if the new configuration is considered an improvement, the old one makes the 2025 examples instantly identifiable and will surely add cache at car shows and auctions in the years to come.

The Corvette ZR1 is already trading for a premium, with some dealers listing them for more than $300,000. A 2025 car with a sticker price of $205,460 was bid up to $360,000 on the Bring a Trailer auction website, but failed to meet its seller’s undisclosed reserve price. The very first production car was sold to NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick for $3.7 million, but it was at a charity auction supporting the American Red Cross.

As far as paint colors for the 2025 ZR1 are concerned, Black accounted for the most cars at 37, including Hendrick’s, while just five were ordered in Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat. The latter were split between three coupes and two convertibles, making the pair of drop-tops the rarest of them all.

Supplies of the Corvette ZR1’s top rival, the Ford Mustang GTD, have also been slim this year. Ford built 82 of the $327,960 pony cars through July and 190 through October, but has not responded to a request asking how many are or will be delivered as 2025 model year cars. The Mustang GTD’s final assembly is handled by Ford Racing partner Multimatic in Canada and its biggest production month was September, when 41 were built.
