Ford Racing is ready to rev up the new year in The Motor City.

Fresh off of its rebranding from Ford Performance, the motorsports and performance division is holding its 2026 season launch event in Detroit on January 15, following two years in Charlotte.

The event will be held at the landmark Michigan Central Station that Ford owns and feature drivers and vehicles from across the disciplines Ford Racing competes in, including NASCAR, IMSA and rally-raiding.

Ford Racing Global Director Mark Rushbrook also revealed in a blog post that there will be a “sneak peek” at an upcoming production car. He didn’t provide any details, but there are several possibilities. Ford is known to be working on an even more extreme version of the Mustang GTD, but Ford CEO Jim Farley has said that there’s an off-road “supercar” in the works. Ford is also set to enter the WEC Hypercar class in 2027, so a third-generation GT for the street based on it isn’t out of the question.

Of course, the biggest thing happening for Ford Racing in 2026 is its technical partnership with Red Bull in Formula 1, where it is co-developing the power units that will be used by both the Red Bull Racing and Racing Bulls teams. Red Bull will reveal the car liveries for both teams together in Detroit following the Ford Racing event.

“With Formula 1’s incredible global growth, a new and diverse fanbase, and the 2026 regulations focus on sustainable fuels and electric power, the technical challenge has never been greater — or more aligned with our vision for the future of automotive performance and innovation,” Rushbrook wrote.
