Ram may be on its way toward setting a NASCAR record in 2026. Not for most wins, but most drivers.

The automaker is launching a NASCAR Truck Series team with Kauling Racing with plans for five trucks.

Brendan Queen, Daniel Dye and Justin Haley have been signed to drive three of them, but there are unusual plans for the other two.

One we don’t know about yet, but Ram has announced a new Free Agent program that aims to have a different driver in the No. 24 truck at all 25 of the truck series races next year.

“If we’re coming back, we’re coming back strong and we’re going to try to do it interesting and fun,” Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis told American Cars And Racing.

It won’t just put anyone in the truck, of course. They’ll have to have some racing experience and be approved by NASCAR, but interested drivers can apply for consideration at [email protected].

Kuniskis said it’s less about winning than creating buzz and the identities of each driver will be kept secret until the last minute.

“We’re not going to say who that driver is until the weekend before,” he said.

The idea of using guest drivers and multiple part time drivers in NASCAR is nothing new, but it has never been attempted on this scale before.

The specifics of the selection process is still being worked out, along with a prize promotion for the drivers themselves.

“We’re coming up with a scheme where they’re chasing points and there’s going to be a very cool award that they’re going to get, for whoever who is the top Free Agent of the year.”

Kuniskis said plans for the fifth truck will be announced closer to season kickoff at Daytona next year, when the first of the Free Agents will also be revealed.
