You Can Drive This 2026 Chevrolet Traverse From A Wheelchair

Chevrolet and BraunAbility have teamed up to build a wheelchair-accessible version of the 2026 Traverse.
The new model made its debut during the CMA Awards, where one was presented to Retired U.S. Army Sergeant Nick Koulchar, a double-amputee injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom who has since run 40 marathons and competes in hand cycling events.
The vehicle is based on the factory Traverse, which was redesigned for 2024 and comes powered by a 328 hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine. BraunAbility previously offered a version of the previous-generation model.
BraunAbility customizes the three-row SUV with a lowering feature, integrated Wayfinder illuminated ramp and sliding side door.

The third row seating is kept intact and the front seats can be removed for wheelchair access. The vehicle can be built with or without hand controls for driving.

“The BraunAbility team is continually innovating and leading in the accessibility industry, and we’re honored to be able to help offer this vehicle to the millions of Americans living with a disability,” Scott Bell, vice president Global Chevrolet, said in a news release.
Exact pricing hasn’t been announced, but the BraunAbility Traverse will be available to order in early 2026.
