Cadillac Is Revealing Its F1 Car’s Livery During The Super Bowl, But You’ll See The Car Before That

GM is entering the biggest stage in motorsports next year with the launch of the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, but its car will be revealed on the biggest stage in sports.
The automaker has confirmed that the car’s livery will debut in an ad during the Super Bowl on Feb. 8. The 2024 broadcast had more than 125 million viewers in the U.S., making it by far the country’s biggest TV event.
“The Super Bowl is one of the rare moments in American culture where sports, entertainment and storytelling come together, and it gives us a chance to introduce Cadillac Formula 1 Team on a stage that reflects who we are,” Cadillac F1 Team CEO Dan Towriss said in a news release. “We’re proud of our American heritage and we want to show up in a way that feels bold, innovative and distinctly ours. This is just the beginning, but it’s a moment I’m incredibly proud of.”
Cadillac will get a look at the car about two weeks before the big game, however, when it hits the track at the first Formula 1 pre-season test in Barcelona on Jan, 26-30. It will likely be wearing its bare carbon fiber skin or a camouflage wrap for the event. Two more test sessions are scheduled for Feb. 11-13 and Feb. 18-20 in Bahrain before the season kicks off in Melbourne, Australia, on the weekend of March 6-8.

Cadillac has mostly been featuring a black and white theme in much of its social media promotions, but a teaser video that accompanied the release of the team’s logo showed racing suits and merchandise that was blue and white, which is the traditional national color scheme for American racing cars.

While the Cadillacs will use Ferrari power units for the first couple of seasons, they will no doubt be looking to outdo the Ford-powered Red Bulls and Racing Bulls in an American automaker rivalry, but they’re going to come in second in the first competition.
That’s because the Red Bull teams will be revealing their liveries at an event in Detroit with Ford on January 15.
