Toyota’s Next NASCAR Car Could Look Incredible

The Toyota Camry NASCAR car is an oddity. Unlike the Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang, the production Camry isn’t offered as a two-door, let alone with a V8.
Over in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series (formerly the Xfinity Series) it races cars with Supra bodies. The current Supra is going out of production in 2026, however, so a replacement will be needed. It’s not yet clear exactly when a new production Supra will be launched.
Of course, Toyota could just do what Chevrolet did with the discontinued Camaro in the Cup Series and release a new performance package for the production car so it can keep the race car up to date.
Then again, it could replace either of them with an all-new model. And it has a one of those on the way.

The Toyota Gazoo Racing GT revealed this week previews a new supercar that’s going on sale in 2027. The two-seat coupe is a 641 hp hybrid with a 4.0-liter V8 up front and a rear-mounted eight-speed transaxle with and electric motor boost.

The GT is built on an aluminum space frame chassis wrapped in carbon fiber bodywork and features an epically long hood. It is essentially a street legal version of a GT3 racing car that has also been revealed and looks the absolute business.

Toyota hasn’t announced any plans to feature it in other racing series, but a NASCAR car inspired by the design could be a winner, even if it didn’t have quite the same proportions as the production model due to the constraints of the Cup Series and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series chassis rules.

Regardless, the GR GT3 will be racing at Daytona, Watkins Glen and Indianapolis in 2027, just on the road courses in the IMSA series.
