Rocker Joe Walsh Is Selling His Hummer, Mustang, McLaren And … Rail Car?

Joe Walsh’s Maserati may have done 185 mph, but now you can buy one of his cars that can hit 204 mph.
The legendary rock star is putting more than 700 items up for auction, including hundreds of guitars and three vehicles.
Among the lots being offered through Julien’s Auctions are a 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, a 2008 Hummer H2 and a 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider, which can reach the previously mentioned maximum velocity.
A portion of the proceeds from the “Life’s Been Good” auction will go toward Walsh’s VetsAid charity.

The cars are all very appealing examples on their own. The McLaren has just 2,906 miles on it, the Mustang 5,706 and the 6.2-liter V8-equipped Hummer 16,893.

The pre-auction estimates for the three at $150,000-$200,000, $70,000-$80,000 and $50,000-$70,000, respectively. Those are all on the high side for the models without a celebrity provenance, but at the time this story was published the pre-auction online bids had reached $125,000, $70,000 and $45,000.

But while some might say the Mustang and McLaren “drive like they’re on rails,” Walsh is also selling something that actually does. It’s a four-seat Rail Riders motorized rail car that was built to ride on unused railroad tracks. It rides on polyurethane wheels and is powered by a Predator single-cylinder engine and expected to sell for $7,000-$10,000.

The onsite auction is taking place Dec. 16-17 at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, which is an appropriate venue for a musician’s gear. As far as that Maserati goes, Walsh didn’t even own one when he wrote the song.

“I never had a Maserati. I finally got one, because everyone was making me feel really guilty,” Walsh told Rolling Stone in 2020.” The look of sadness on their face … so I went and got a Maserati [5000GT]. I don’t know if it does 185. I chickened out at 140.”
