Ford Recalling 272,645 Electrified Vehicles For Rollaway Risk

Ford has issued a recall for a total of 272,645 F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and hybrid Ford Mavericks to address a rollaway risk.
According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the vehicles may not properly engage Park and the parking brake, which could allow them to move after they have been turned off.
The recall includes 104,113 F-150 Lightnings built from Oct. 2021-Oct. 2025, 88,064 Mustang Mach-Es built from Jul. 2023-Oct. 2025 and 80,468 Maverick hybrids built from April 2024-Nov. 2025.
Ford said that 42 warranty claims related to the issue have been made across the three models, but it has received no reports of accidents or injuries. The report says 1% of the vehicles are estimated to have the issue.

Dealers and owners will be notified starting in Jan. and Feb., but information is available from the NHTSA hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and www.nhtsa.gov.
The recall covers ever F-150 Lightning built to date. Production of the model was suspended in October due to an aluminum shortage, but Ford has since announced that it is being discontinued. It plans to replace it with a new version with an extended range electric vehicle platform, but has not announced when it will on sale.
The Mustang Mach-E and Maverick hybrid remain in production. Ford added the first all-wheel-drive version of the Maverick hybrid for the 2025 model year.
