The Jeep Wrangler Outsold The Ford Bronco In 2025, But It Was Oh So Close

The Jeep Wrangler climbed to the top of the SUV sales charts once again in 2025, but it may not be king of the hill for much longer.
Jeep delivered 167,322 Wranglers last year, which was up 11% from 2024, but far from its all-time best of 240,032 set in 2018.
It was also barely enough to hold off its only direct rival in the topless SUV segment. The Ford Bronco finished the year with 146,007 deliveries, which was a huge 33.7% increase over the prior year and a new record for the model.
Jeep has an aggressive marketing strategy planned for 2026 to celebrate its symbolic 85th anniversary, so it will be interesting to see what Ford does to keep up.

Both of the US-built trucks handily outsold the Toyota 4Runner, which is the only thing close to them, but the result comes with an asterisk.

The 4Runner was all-new for 2025 and deliveries slowly ramped up throughout the year. Just 30,152 were delivered through June, but the final tally was 98,805. The recent high mark for the 4Runner was 144,696 in 2021, so 2026 could be a big year for it.
However, Toyota also sells the similarly-sized Land Cruiser that launched in 2024 on the same platform that the 4Runner uses and it accounted for 43,946 deliveries in 2026. Add the two results and you get 142,741 deliveries.

General Motors doesn’t offer any models in the mainstream midsize body-on-frame SUV segment and neither does anyone else.
That could change soon as Nissan is considering a revival of the Xterra along with moving the Pathfinder back to body-on-frame construction.
