Acura RDX Discontinued … But It Will Be Back Someday

Acura is discontinuing its second-bestselling model this year due to supplier issues.
The automaker didn’t specify what exactly what parts are affected, but it has decided to end production of the Ohio-built compact SUV earlier than expected.
That will leave a gap for a couple of years before a replacement is ready, but there is one on the way.
Acura released a teaser image of it and said it will be powered by a two-motor hybrid system, similar to what’s featured in the Honda CR-V Hybrid.
“For nearly two decades, RDX has been one of the most popular Acura models, so it’s fitting that the upcoming fourth-generation RDX will be the first Acura to feature our two-motor hybrid-electric system,” Mike Langel, assistant vice president of Acura National Sales, said in a news release.
“The RDX hybrid is expected to arrive at dealerships within the next couple of years, and we’re thrilled to share this news as Acura celebrates its 40th anniversary — making this milestone even more special.”

An exact timeframe for the new RDX’s launch was not shared, but Acura did confirm that the new RSX electric compact SUV will enter production in Ohio before the end of 2026. Acura has not yet shown the final production version of the model or released any specifications.

Acura recently discontinued sales of the electric ZDX, which was manufactured for it by General Motors, but has also added the subcompact gas-powered ADX to its U.S. lineup. The ADX is imported from Mexico, while the rest of the Acura lineup is made in USA.
