Kia is in it to win it. “It” being the American electric vehicle market.
The automaker has introduced the new entry level 2027 EV3 at the New York International Auto Show, which will be its smallest electric offering in the U.S.
The South Korea-built EV3 is a subcompact SUV that slots between Kia’s Soul and Seltos in length. It will be available the choice of two battery pack sizes that deliver up to 220 miles and 320 miles per charge, respectively.
“The Kia EV3 represents a bold step forward in our commitment to making electric mobility accessible to more
Americans,” saidEric Watson, vice president, sales operations, Kia America said in a news release. “With its striking geometric design inspired by EV9, advanced technology, and spacious interior, the EV3 brings the innovation of our EV lineup into an entry EV SUV tailored for the way U.S. customers live, work, and travel.”

Several automakers have been winding back their electric vehicle programs, but the addition of the EV3 to the existing EV6 and EV9 will give Kia’s customers small, medium and large SUV options, although it has postponed the launch of the EV4 sedan and hatchback.
The interior design includes the Kia family’s dual 12.3-inch displays on the dashboard and the EV3 will be offered in five trims with increasing levels of comfort and convenience features. Pricing will be confirmed closer to the start of deliveries, which is scheduled for late this year.
