Autographed Knight Rider KITT Car On Sale For $150,000
It may be four decades old, but KITT still looks like its from the future.
The sentient self-driving Pontiac Trans Am from “Knight Rider” remains one of the most iconic TV and Movie cars of all time.
Roughly two dozen cars were used during the show’s four-season run and only five still exist, but there are plenty of replica cars out there keeping the spirit alive.
One is currently up for sale at the Specialty Car Collection in California that was spotted by GM Authority.
According to the dealer, this car was built by someone associated with the show. It likely never appeared on screen, but was reportedly used for promotional events.

The interior is a perfectly rendered and includes all of the familiar controls including Auto Cruise and Turbo Boost, the latter of which Michael Knight would use for jumps.
The front end is also equipped with a functional scanning light bar.
According to Joe Huth, who owns one of the screen-used cars and runs the Knight Rider Historians website, the VIN indicates that it was built in Norwood, Ohio, while all of the authentic cars that were customized by George Barris were sourced from Pontac’s Van Nuys, Calif., factory.

Barris did give the car his seal of approval by signing the door jamb.
David Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight, has also left his autograph on the car.
Unlike its depiction on the show, the Trans Am is powered by a 305 cubic-inch V8, not a turbine. But it does feature a Knight Industries air cleaner cover.
The car is currently listed for $150,000 and it’s tough to say what the market is for one as authentic as it is. New KITT conversions can cost around $50,000 plus the donor car, while a replica that was owned by Hasselhoff himself was sold at a charity auction in 2021 for $300,000.
