First Photos: 2026 Honda Passport SUV Prototype Revealed
An all-new 2026 Honda Passport is on the way next year and the automaker is putting the finishing touches on its development.
It has been engineered to be the most off-road capable Honda ever and the two-row midsize SUV is being tested in challenging off-road environments.
As with the previous model, it is based on the same platform as the three-row Honda Pilot, but photos of a camouflaged prototype reveal that it has an even more distinctive design this time around.
The prototype is the TrailSport trim, which will be the most rugged version of the Passport. The Passport’s front end styling differs significantly from the Pilot’s. It features a blunter nose with a unique grille and a bumper designed to provide better ground clearance, while the rear end is shorter than the larger Pilot’s.

Full technical details have not been revealed, but Honda has confirmed it will be feature a new and more powerful 3.5-liter V6 than the current Passport, along with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Given that the 2024 Passport has a 280 hp V6 and the Pilot has a 285 hp V6 and 10-speed automatic, you can probably expect the new Passport to have the same setup as that.

The 2026 Passport will also be equipped with Honda’s torque vectoring i-VTM4™ all-wheel drive system, but the photos show that the crossover platform won’t provide the same level of suspension articulation that a body-on-frame truck’s can.

The photos reveal that the Passport will be able to drive through water about as deep as its tires are tall, at least.
