The McLaren Formula 1 Team Built An Excellent Custom 1973 Plymouth Barracuda
Maybe they should race these instead of F1 cars!
The McLaren Formula 1 team has collaborated with Ebay on a custom 1973 Plymouth Barracuda that they’re showing off at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Tex., as a promotion for Ebay Motors.
The car was built with parts offered on the marketplace and finished in McLaren’s signature Papaya Orange paint color.
The car was already in pretty good shape and Ebay shared before and after photos of the project that’s being shown off by driver Lando Norris.
The Barracuda started out as a lightly modified silver over black coupe with a black vinyl landau roof and a 340 cubic-inch V8 under the hood.
The interior still had its original style complete with a faux wood insert on the center console.
A set of Corbeau A4 racing seats were swapped in for the factory buckets and pared with a new Momo Heritage California Wood Steering Wheel.

The engine was overhauled with a set of Doug’s Headers and a 2.5-inch Pypes exhaust system.
QA1 coilover shocks and a Wilwood brake system were installed to improve the ride, handling and stopping power.
Cooper Radial T/A GT tires wrapped around American Racing Torq Thrust wheels complete the fresh look, which is highlighted by new lights all around.

Norris’ personal collection is mostly full of supercars, but he does have a Shelby Cobra that he’s had wrapped in chrome. Ebay and McLaren haven’t said what will happen with the Barracuda after the race, but it will be on display during the grand prix weekend.
