The 12 Most Dependable US-Built Vehicles
The 2025 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study is out and General Motors tied with Toyota for the most models at the top of their segments, the many of which are built in the U.S.
Buick was also ranked as the top U.S. brand behind Lexus, while all four G.M. brands were above average.
The study asks owners of 2022 model year vehicles about their experience.
Here is a look at the top models that were made in the USA:
TOYOTA AVALON
The Toyota Avalon was ranked the most dependable vehicle overall. The 2022 model year was the last for the Kentucky-built full-size sedan, which has been replaced by the Japan-built Toyota Crown.

TOYOTA COROLLA
The Mississippi-built Corolla was the top compact car and is also the cheapest car that’s built in the United States.
TOYOTA CAMRY
The Camry has been redesigned for 2025, but the 2022 model was the most dependable midsize car.
TOYOTA SIENNA
The Toyota Sienna was the top-ranked minivan and the all-American model is built in Indiana.

CHEVROLET CORVETTE
The Kentucky-built Chevrolet Corvette may be a performance bargain with a starting price of $69,995, but it was named the top Premium Sporty Car on the J.D. Power survey.
TOYOTA RAV4
The Toyota Rav4 was the top compact SuV and the ones sold in the U.S. are built in Japan, Canada and Kentucky, depending on the trim.
CHEVROLET TAHOE
The Tahoe may be named after a lake between California and Nevada, but the most reliable large SUV is built in Texas.
NISSAN MURANO
The Tennessee-built built Nissan Murano is another model that’s been redesigned for 2025, but the 2022 edition led the midsize SUV segment.
GMC ACADIA
The GMC Acadia is also made in Tennessee and was ranked the best upper midsize SUV, which means it’s a little bigger than the Murano with available three-row seating.
CADILLAC XT6
It’s maybe not a surprise that the Cadillac XT6 built at the same factory as the GMC Acadia is the top premium upper midsize SUV.
CHEVROLET SILVERADO HD
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD was built in Flint, Mich., and was the most dependable large heavy duty pickup.
CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is built at GM factories in all three North American countries including the one in Flint and it was ranked the most dependable large light duty pickup.
