The Most Powerful Ford Mustangs Ever
Ford drivers will soon have the chance to take the reins of the of the most powerful Mustang ever.
The 2025 Ford Mustang GTD is an 815 hp beast that costs $325,000, but Ford has bred plenty of potent pony cars over the years that cost a lot less.
Here’s a look at the top models over the years.
2025 MUSTANG GTD: 815 HP
The Mustang GTD is powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 and has a top speed of 202 mph, but its biggest claim to fame is that it is the first American car to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than seven minutes.
2020 MUSTANG SHELBY GT500: 760 HP
The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 also had a 5.2-liter supercharged V8, but it was rated at 760 hp. The very muscular car could accelerate to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and cover a quarter-mile in 10.7 seconds.

2013 MUSTANG SHELBY GT500: 667 HP
The 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500 had a smaller 5.8-liter supercharged V8 that was rated at 667 hp, but its claimed top speed matched the Mustang GTD’s at 202 mph. It is also the most powerful car Ford has ever offered with a manual transmission.

2008 MUSTANG SHELBY GT500KR: 540 HP
The 2008 Mustang Shelby GT500KR was meant to be the “King of the Road” with its 540 hp 5.4-liter supercharged V8. It also came with a king sized price tag of $79,995, which made it the most expensive Mustang to date. The engine would make its way into the mainstream GT500 when it was updated in 2010.
2015 MUSTANG GT350: 526 HP
The 2025 GT350 resurrected one of the most classic Mustang models, but with a very modern engine. The stick-shift-only coupe was powered by a 5.2-liter V8 with a flat plane crank and an 8,250 rpm redline that could crank out 526 hp.
