The Fastest American Cars In History
The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is set to be the fastest production Corvette ever sold.
The new model is powered by a 1,064 hp twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 that Chevy says is good for a top speed of at least 215 mph.
That will beat the last-generation 2019 Corvette ZR1’s 212 mph top speed, but where does it rank on the all-time list of the fastest cars from the big American brands?
2004 FORD GT – 205 mph
The 2004 Ford GT was powered by a 550 hp supercharged V8 and had a top speed of 205 mph.
2013 SRT VIPER – 206 MPH
SRT was its own brand for two years before the Viper was brought back into the Dodge fold, but the 2013 model launched under the SRT name with a front-mounted 640 hp 8.4-liter V8 that could coax the snake to a 206 mph top speed.
