The Superstar Racing Experience is being revived.

The all-star stock car racing series has been acquired by Skip Barber Racing and plans for a 2024 season are in the works.

SRX, as it is known, was launched in 2021 by a group that included three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart.

It held a six-race summer weeknight short-track series for three seasons that featured a mix of up and coming drivers and stars from NASCAR, IndyCar and other series competing in identical cars. Stewart, Marco Andretti and Ryan Newman were the three champions.

But in January, after scheduling five of the six tracks it planned to visit this year, it announced the abrupt “postponement” of the season citing “market factors that have proven too much to overcome.”

Former SRX CEO Don Hawk has joined Skip Barber Racing as Chief Strategy Officer.

“This is an exciting time for the entire SBRS team,” Dan DeMonte, Skip Barber Racing’s Chief Marketing Officer, said in a press release.

“We take great pride in providing valuable and exciting events to the motorsports community and now have the opportunity to continue that with the SRX series.”

Skip Barber Racing said more details on the 2024 season will be released in the coming weeks.
