Chevrolet has officially lit the fire for the 2024 Blazer EV.

Production is now underway at the Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, factory that builds the midsize electric SUV.

The first models heading to showrooms this year are the midlevel 2LT AWD (all-wheel-drive), RS AWD and RS RWD (rear-wheel-drive).

Chevy has put off launching a previously announced 2LT FWD (front-wheel-drive) trim that was expected to start at $47,595 until early 2024 and has cancelled the planed entry-level 1LT, which was slated to sell for $44,995.

Pricing for the 2LT AWD starts at $56,715 and has an estimated range of 279 miles per charge. Standard equipment includes full digital instrumentation with a 17.7-inch touchscreen, a heated steering wheel and seats, power liftgate, adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system.

The RS AWD lists for $60,215 with the same driving range but features a sportier style, 21-inch wheels, a flat-bottom steering wheel, ventilated seats, a head-up display and additional equipment.

The RS RWD has the longest range at 320 miles and is priced at $61,790 with all of the RS AWD’s equipment plus a Bose audio system.

Further details on power and performance have not been released and Chevrolet has not explained why the RS RWD is more expensive than the RS AWD, which will be the first to reach customers in August.

Along with the 2LT FWD, the high performance Blazer EV SS will join the lineup early next year with a 557 hp all-wheel-drive system at a yet to be confirmed price, while a Police Pursuit Vehicle model based on the it will also be available for law enforcement customers.
