Hey, Tesla, You Know Dodge Sells Wraps Too, Right?
It’s a wrap battle.
Tesla last week announced that it is now offering color wraps for the Model 3 and Model Y priced at $7,500 to $8,000 through two locations in southern California.
Seven shades are available for the electric vehicles, but you can’t get them all at once.
Not so for Dodge owners, who have been able to order a rainbow colored wrap for the Challenger priced at $3,700.
FRIDAY FANTASY: THAT TIME DODGE BUILT A TESLA ROADSTER
The design is inspired by a classic advertisement for the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda that featured a striped “paint chip” that displayed all 25 colors that were available on the model that year.
The new Hi-Impact wrap has the 14 colors offered on the 2023 Challenger, but the wrap can be ordered for any 2008-2023 Challenger, since then body hasn’t changed in all those years.
The biggest difference between the Dodge and Tesla wraps is that the former uses a vinyl 3M wrap and the latter a “self-healing urethane film,” while installation is included in Tesla’s price, but not Dodge’s.
OH CHUTE: THE DODGE DEMON 170 IS SO FAST IT HAS AN OPTIONAL PARACHUTE MOUNT
Although the electric Tesla’s and the very internal combustion-engined Challenger aren’t anything alike, that’s going to change next year when the Challenger is replaced by an all-electric model based on the Charger Daytona SRT Concept.
