The Demon is on fire!

Two limited edition 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 coupes were sold at the Mecum Auctions event in Las Vegas for nearly double their base prices.

The Challenger Demon SRT 170 is set to go down in history as the most powerful V8 muscle car of all time.

It has a 900 hp version of Dodge’s supercharged. 6.2-liter V8 that can produce 1,025 hp when its running on E85, which has a higher octane rating than premium gasoline.

It is capable of accelerating to 60 mph in 1.66 seconds, covering a quarter-mile in 8.9 seconds on a prepped drag strip and can pop a wheelie when it launches from a standstill.

The Challenger SRT Demon 170 has a starting price of $100,361, but can be optioned up to $133,421.

Dodge will only build a maximum of 3,300, with 3,000 earmarked for U.S. customers, and is racing to reach that total before Challenger ends for good at the end of 2023.

A loaded red example with 18 miles on the odometer sold for $231,000 on Saturday, which must’ve been a bit of a letdown to the seller, because a black one with 13 miles went for $247,500 on Friday.

That appears to have set the current market for the model, although one dealer was asking a bit more recently.

DARCARS of Silver Spring, Md., had one on its showroom floor with a $250,000 markup on its sticker, plus a few dealer add-ons that brought its price to $386,321.

The car is currently listed on the store’s website with a “call for pricing” notice.
