Kindred Motorworks is getting down to business.

FORD WON’T GIVE UP ON THE WARTHOG
Rather than treat each as a one-off build, Kindred has developed a repeatable blueprint it says ensures a high level of quality and ease of repair. It finds and buys its own trucks to work on, rather than relying on donor cars provided by customers.

The company is putting the finishing touches on an electric powertrain with a 200-mile range that is scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2024. The electrification plan has attracted investment from Robert Downey Jr’s Footprint Coalition, which was one of its early investors.
Kindred is also taking orders for electric versions of the original VW Bus and the Chevrolet 3100 pickup it plans to have in production next year.
