General Motors Claims U.S. Sales Crown And Tops Truck Charts
General Motors is back to business in a big way.
The automaker sold 2.6 million vehicles in the U.S. in 2023 to claim the top spot ahead of Toyota’s 2.2 million. That marks its best result since 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic and supply chain issues cramped new vehicle sales.
Chevrolet and GMC also delivered a combined 843,000 full-size pickups.
That puts the GM twins ahead of the Ford F-Series, although Ford came out on top among individual brands with over 700,000 trucks delivered.

GM also led with overall truck sales across all size classes and with full size SUVs, the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade accounting for 245,000 sales. Things weren’t as rosy for GM’s burgeoning electric car business.
FORD, GM AND TESLA EVS LOSING TAX CREDITS IN 2024
Its total EV sales amounted to 62,045, of which 62,045 were the Chevrolet Bolt and Bolt EUV, which were discontinued on December 20.
The next-best-selling EV models were the Cadillac Lyriq at 9,154 and GMC Hummer EV pickup and SUV at 3,244.

The out of production Chevrolet Camaro ended its final year with 31,028 deliveries, although there are a few thousand new cars still available.

That put it fourth among the American sports cars behind the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang — final amounts not yet reported — and the Chevrolet Corvette, which was delivered to 34,353 customers last year.
