There’s a new baby Ram van. Ram has revived the ProMaster City name on a new commercial minivan that is launching next year.
The 2027 ProMaster City is based on a minivan sold around the world by several of the other Stellantis brands, including Fiat and Citroën, and will be imported from Turkey. It is about two-feet longer than the previous generation, which was discontinued for the U.S. in 2022.
The front-wheel-drive vehicle is powered by a turbocharged 1.6‑liter four-cylinder engine rated at 166 hp and 221 lb-ft and has an eight-speed automatic transmission. It will be offered in Cargo Van and Passenger Wagon versions in 11 different configurations across Tradesman and SLT trims with seating for up to eight passengers.
Ram expects it to have a tow rating close to 2,000 pounds and a payload capacity of more than 2,000 pounds. The two-seat Cargo Van has a load floor that is 111 inches long and 48 inches wide, so it can fit a 4×8 sheet of plywood with the tailgate closed or two standard U.S. pallets. Ram is offering it with the choice of a rear liftgate or split doors that can open up to 180 degrees.

The Promaster City is 210 inches long, 75.7 inches wide and 76.7 inches high, which makes it suitable for a standard home garage. All versions come standard with a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and a video rearview mirror. It also features Ram’s new modernized brand logo.

The ProMaster City will be the only commercial minivan in the U.S. when deliveries begin early next year with a base price Ram is targeting for less than $40,000. That will make it the brand’s most affordable vehicle and roughtly $5,000 cheaper than the lowest priced version of the larger ProMaster that will continue to be sold alongside it.
