The 2025 Chevrolet Equinox Wants To Be More Like A Real SUV
There’s a new Chevrolet Equinox on the way, and not just the battery-powered Equinox EV.
Chevrolet has unveiled the redesigned gas-powered 2025 Equinox that’s set to go on sale later this year.
The updated compact crossover SUV is a heavily reworked version of the outgoing 2024 Equinox, which has been on sale since 2018.
The new Equinox features a boxier, more truck-like look that borrows elements from the upcoming redesigned Chevrolet Traverse, including its shark-fin C-pillar.
The 2025 Equinox about same length as the current model, but is 2.3 inches wider.
A “refreshed” 175 hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder will be under the hood, paired with a continuously variable transmission in front-wheel-drive models and an eight-speed automatic in rear-wheel-drive models.
Three trims will be offered: LT, RS and the off-roady Activ trim that’s been showing up on Chevy’s SUVs. The Activ adds 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, unique styling elements and an available two-tone paint option.
Dual digital displays dress up an interior, which has a sporty dashboard design that echoes the out-of-production Camaro’s.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but the Equinox will come with an impressive package of standard electronic driver aids that includes lane keeping adaptive cruise control and both front and rear automatic brakes.

All-wheel-drive trims will also get an off-road traction management mode and a 1,500-pound tow rating.
Chevrolet sold over 212,000 Equinoxes last year, making it GM’s second-best selling vehicle behind the Chevrolet Silverado. A recent study from iseecars.com also found that it was the third-best selling used car last year behind the Ford F-150 and Silverado.
