The NASCAR Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum may have been the biggest televised auto race that ever started early.

An entire day early.

Faced with the threat of the torrential atmospheric river that brought historic rains to the Los Angeles area on Sunday, NASCAR decided to run the race on Saturday night in place of the scheduled qualifying heat races.

It turned out to be a classic that was held in front of a small live audience and broadcast on FS1 instead of the Fox network.

Denny Hamlin won from pole, but the race was dominated by Joey Logano and Ty Gibbs, who ended it in dramatic fashion and kicked off what may be the rivalry of the year.

But they’re not the only ones who went home with a beef.

Ross Chastain and Tyler Reddick had a run-in and there was a new chapter written in the growing Kyle Larson and Bubba Wallace drama.
