2024 Shelby Super Snake Mustang Debuts With 830 HP Supercharged V8
Shelby American has unveiled its first seventh-generation Mustang model in the form of the 2024 Super Snake.
It’s offering it in coupe and convertible versions with a host of powertrain and chassis updates.
The changes included a widebody front end and an updated suspension engineered to improve “turn in” according to Shelby. Its 20-inch wheels are unique and wrap around Shelby brake rotors.
Shelby is offering the Super Snake with the Mustang’s stock 480 hp 5.0-liter V8 or a supercharged version rated at 830 hp.
A high performance cooling system comes with the supercharged engine and both motors breathe through a Borla exhaust specially designed for Shelby.
Six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic transmissions will be offered. Powertrain upgrades included stronger half-shafts, while stick-shift cars get a short-throw shifter and a single-piece driveshaft.
The interior features new upholstery, Shelby accessories and a serialized dash plaque, plus a white cueball shifter grip for the six-speed.
Convertibles get a “light bar” basket handle-style support and a Shelby ducktail spoiler, while fastback models feature a large rear wing.
Pricing hasn’t been announced, but the last-generation Super Snake cost around $140,000 for the supercharged model.
That’s a fair bit less than Ford’s upcoming $325,000 Mustang GTD, which will be powered by a 800 hp supercharged V8, but a lot more than the 800 hp Mustang GT you can build yourself with Ford Performance’s $9,995 supercharger kit for $53,545.
