Tesla Slashes Full Self-Driving And Vehicle Prices By Thousands
Tesla is trimming prices again.
Ahead of the company’s first quarter earnings call, the automaker has slashed the price for its Full Self-Driving semi-autonomous driver aid by a third, from $12,000 to $8,000.
Tesla last week cut the price of a monthly subscription for the feature from $199 to $99, following the announcement that all compatible vehicles in the existing owner fleet would be getting a month-long free trial.
Full Self-Driving is capable of controlling a vehicle in many situations, following navigation and stopping for red lights and stop signs, but requires full driver attention to operate in case of emergencies.

Along with the Full Self-Driving price adjustment, Tesla also reduced the prices for all trim levels of the Model Y, Model S and Model X by $2,000.
The Model Y’s new base price of $42,990 (not including shipping fees) ties for the lowest price the model had previously been offered for. The entry level prices for the Model S and Model X are now $72,990 and $77,990, respectively.
Tesla has reportedly cancelled or delayed plans to introduce a $25,000 model starting next year and the Model 3 is currently its lowest-priced vehicle at $38,990.
Elon Musk has reportedly told the company to focus on developing a fully autonomous robotaxi in lieu of ythe $25,000 consumer model.
Musk had previously said that cars will Full Self-Driving would one day be able to be used in a robotaxi service one day that would allow owners to earn money when they didn’t need their own cars, but the robotaxi product appears to be a standalone vehicle.
Musk had also predicted that Full Self-Driving would become an appreciating asset that could one day be worth $100,000 to owners of vehicles equipped with it.
