Indy NXT driver Jamie Chadwick became just the third woman to win a race in an IndyCar development series.

The Andretti Global driver won from pole position and led all 20 laps at the iconic track.

“I have no words,” Chadwick said. “Honestly, I’m a bit emotional. We’ve had an unbelievable car this year and just haven’t been able to do anything about it. I’m just so happy we held on there.”

It was the first win by a woman since Pippa Mann at Kentucky in 2010, while Ana Beatriz won two races in 2008 and 2009.

Chadwick’s is the first to come on a road course.

Danica Patrick remains the only woman with a win in the top IndyCar series, having won the Firestone IndyCar 300 at Twin Ring Motegi in Japan in 2008.

Sunday’s IndyCar race at Road America was won by Will Power, whose last win was at the Detroit Grand Prix in 2002.

Power was followed across the finish line by his Team Penske teammates Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin.

“Massively special,” Power said of the win. “We’ve worked so hard to try to get wins. I worked really hard in the offseason. Obviously, last season was very stressful. Had half a mind at home and half at the track, so it was very difficult to perform at a high level there.

“Man, I’m just stoked. I’m very happy, man. That was very well deserved for the whole team. We worked so hard for that.”

IndyCar heads next to Laguna Seca the weekend of June 23, where none of the three have won in the four most recent visits to the California track. It is also the next stop on the Indy NXT schedule, with a race on June 22.
