The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Is Getting Toyota Hybrid Power
The Mazda CX-50 is built alongside the Toyota Corolla Cross at a jointly owned factory in Huntsville, Ala., and now the compact SUIV is getting some Toyota power.
Mazda has revealed the updated 2025 CX-50, which will be offered with a hybrid powertrain that borrows technology from the Toyota Rav4.
The powertrain combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors to create an all-wheel-drive system rated at 219 hp 163 lb-ft of torque that gets an estimated 38 mpg combined.
The hybrid will be offered in Preferred, Premium and Premium Plus trims priced at $33,970, $37,400 and $40,050, respectively, not including the $1,420 destination fee.

That slots them in the middle of the lineup, which also continues to offer 187 hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder and 256 hp turbocharged four-cylinder options at prices ranging from $30,300 to $43,400 with all-wheel-drive standard across the board.
One trim that remains turbo-only is the Meridian Edition, which comes with all-terrain tires on 18-inch wheels and extra body cladding that makes it a bit more suitable for light off-roading.

Smaller updates can be found across the model lineup, which sees some features shuffled around and an improved version of Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE package of electronic driver aids, which includes lane-centering adaptive cruise control on some trims.
An exact date for the start of deliveries for the CX-50 hybrid hasn’t been announced, but it is expected to be in showrooms by late this year.
