Elon Musk often says the Tesla Cybertruck is a better truck than an F-150, but while that is debatable it is now a better selling-truck than the F-150.

Well, a better selling truck than the F-150 Lightning.

According to the second quarter electric vehicle sales report from Kelly Blue Book the Cybertruck was the best-selling electric pickup during the April through June period.

The report says that Tesla delivered 8,755 Cybertrucks while Ford delivered 7,902 F-150 Lightnings.

This despite the fact that F-150 Lightning prices range from around $55,000 to $85,000 and the Cybertrucks that are currently being delivered go for $100,000 to $120,000. In fact, Kelly Blue Book said that the Cybertruck was the best-selling of all vehicles priced above $100,000 in June.

The Rivian R1T was a distant third among EV pickups with 3,309 deliveries, while Chevrolet delivered 2,196 Silverado EVs.

The one asterisk on this is that only Ford reports an official number for the F-150 Lightning. The others are based on Kelly Blue Book’s analysis of several sources, which has a proven track record.

Ford cut back production of the F-150 Lighting from an original plan to build 150,000 in 2024 and delivered just 15,645 in the first half of the year. The automaker also announced that it it delaying the launch of its next-generation “T3” electric pickup from 2025 to 2026.

Meanwhile, Tesla is still ramping up Cybertruck production and has eclipsed a build rate of 1,300 trucks per week on its way toward a goal of 2,500 per week by the end of the year.

Chevrolet is also ramping up Silverado EV production and will soon be adding the GMC Sierra EV to its electric truck lineup, which also includes the GMC Hummer EV pickup. GMC doesn’t break out Hummer EV pickup and SUV sales, but delivered a combined 4,597 through June.
