Add the old-school Jeep Gladiator to the growing list of futuristic electrified pickup trucks.

The automaker has confirmed that the Gladiator will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain next year, likely the same one currently available for the Wrangler 4xe.

It combines a four-cylinder engine and electric motors to provide up to 22 miles of all-electric driving and 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque when everything is working in concert.

Full details on the Gladiator 4xe will be released closer to when it goes on sale, but there are plenty of other plug-in pickups that are either already in showrooms or on the way for 2025.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is already on sale, but is still expanding its model offerings. Along with the currently available Silverado EV WT (Work Truck) trims that offer from 393-450 miles of range and towing up to 12,500 pounds, a high performance Silverado EV RST will soon be in showrooms. The RST delivers a maximum of 754 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque and can go 440 miles between charges at a starting price of $96,395.

FORD F-150 LIGHTNING

Ford is going to build fewer F-150 Lightings than planned this year, but it is the top-selling full-size electric pickup so far this year. Prices (not including shipping) start at $54,995 for a Pro commercial model and climb to $84,995 for a top of the line Platinum with 300 miles of range. A new Flash trim rated at 320 miles per charge sits in the middle of the lineup at $67,995, and XLT and Lariat trims are also offered.

The GMC Hummer EV has technically be on sale since 2021, although production is just coming up to speed. The off-road behemoth can now be ordered with a dual-motor powertrain good for 570 hp and 311 miles of range or a tri-motor powertrain with a larger battery pack that delivers 1,000 hp and 383 miles of range. All models come with adjustable air suspension systems and four-wheel-steering that can steer the rear wheels in the same direction as the front by up to 10% in what GMC calls CrabWalk mode.

GMC SIERRA EV

The GMC Sierra EV is a near-twin to the Silverado EV, but has a couple of unique features. Notably its body design, which features a more traditional pickup profile that doesn’t have the pronounced sail panels along the top of the bed that the Silverado features. It is launching this summer in a $99,595 Denali Edition 1 trim which has the same power as the Silverado EV RST and four-wheel steering with CrabWalk mode.

RAM 1500 RAMCHARGER

Ram has resurrected the Ramcharger name on a series hybrid pickup. It is essentially an electric truck with a V6 engine that operates as a generator for longer trips and a power boost, but doesn’t mechanically drive the wheels. Ram says it can drive up to 145 miles on just electricity, but has a range of 690 miles when the battery and 27-gallon gas tank are both full.

Ram is also introducing the fully electric Ram 1500 REV, which will be availble in models with 350 miles and 500 miles of range and a top towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. Ram also promises that it will have the largest “frunk” in its class at 15-cubic-feet, which is one-cubic-foot more than the Ford F-150 Lightning’s, but, as with the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, pricing has not yet been announced.
