The Ford Maverick Lobo Is A Wild Little Performance Pickup

The Lobo has been unleashed.

Hot on the heels of the debut of the refreshed 2025 Maverick lineup, Ford has revealed the first street performance version of the small pickup.

The Maverick Lobo tips its hat to the street tuner scene and borrows some goodies from Ford’s sporty cars. The Lobo name is Spanish for “wolf” and has previously been used on F-150 models sold in Mexico.

The Maverick Lobo comes standard with the pickup’s 238 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, which is rated at 277 lb-ft of torque and gets the upgraded cooling system from the Maverick’s 4K towing package.

The engine is paired with an all-wheel-drive system that features a seven-speed automatic transmission and a torque-vectoring twin-clutch rear drive unit.

The suspension is lowered a half-inch up front, 1.12 inches in the rear and fitted with special shocks, while the Maverick Lobo rolls on a set of 19-inch rally-style dish wheels. The Lobo has a unique grille and body color rear bumper and rocker panels. The interior is dressed up with Grabber Blue and Electric Lime stitching, a subtle paint splatter effect on the seats and Lobo logos in the front seat headrests.

Ford hasn’t released any performance specs, but very much suggests that the Maverick Lobo is suitable for driving on an autocross or similarly fun venue.

It has a Lobo drive mode that amps up the torque vectoring and loosens up the stability control that comes with a notices that it is for “track use only” and meant for “spirited closed course driving.”

The Maverick Lobo is still meant to be used as a truck, however, and can tow up to 2,000 pounds, but its payload capacity drops from the Maverick’s 1,500-pound maximum to 1,045 pounds.

Pricing starts at $36,595 while a higher spec configuration is priced at $42,090 that includes a heated steering wheel and heated seats, a moon roof, a spray-in bedliner, a 360-degree camera system, the Co-Pilo360 package of electronic driver aids with adaptive cruise control and both the ProTrailer HItch Assist and Pro Trailer backup assist features. The former can self-drive the vehicle in reverse to line up a trailer hitch and the latter allows the driver to back up with a trailer attached by turning a knob on the steering wheel as the vehicle steers itself.

The 2025 Maverick order books are open with deliveries for most models set to begin by the end of this year and the Lobo to follow early next year.
