Jeep is driving into its 85th anniversary year with style.
Deliveries of its iconic Wrangler were up 17% through the first quarter to 44,461 thanks to heavy promotions, new prices and a non-stop rollout of special edition trims.
That put it far head of the Ford Bronco, which saw just 31,197 deliveries and a 4.3% drop since last year when sales were increasing and nipping at the Wrangler’s rear bumper. It’s unfortunate for Ford because. while Jeep is celebrating the brand’s anniversary, Ford is celebrating the Bronco’s 60th anniversary in 2026.
Worse for Ford, production of the new Toyota 4Runner is approaching full output and 33,244 were delivered during the period, bumping the Bronco to fourth in the segment. That’s up from 8,435 last year, when the assembly line was still ramping up. Toyota also delivered 8,083 of the similarly-sized, but more expensive Land Cruiser, which was down 47.6% from 2025.

Nissan is working on a new Xterra that should be launching in a couple of years and Hyundai just revealed the Boulder concept, which previews the new lineup of body-on-frame pickups and SUVs it plans to start rolling out by 2030.

The one odd omission from the list remains an entry from General Motors, which makes midsize body-on-frame pickups, but not an SUV.
