The Ford Mustang GTD has had its passport stamped again.

After making its public driving debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July, an Indulgent Blue example of the upcoming $325,000 supercar has been spotted lapping Germany’s Nürburgring Nordschleife racing circuit.

A Ford representative confirmed to American Cars And Racing that it is the exact same car that was at Goodwood.

Mustang GTDs have been seen on the Nurburgring before and this one was accompanied by a black car that also looked production spec in video captured by Car Spy Media.

Ford didn’t say exactly what they were up to, but it is planning to record an official lap time before deliveries begin in the coming months and is aiming to break the seven minute mark on the 13-mile track. The Nürburgring record for an American car currently belongs to the Dodge Viper ACR, which did a 7:01.3 lap in 2017.

The Mustang is bringing more power and tech than the Viper could ever dream of, however. It has an 800 hp supercharged 5.2-liter V8 and a drag reduction system that can adjust its wing and other flaps to increase its top speed on straights and crank up the downforce in the curves. The large wing can be seen switching between the two modes in the video.

The Mustang GTD also has a pushrod-activated rear suspension that is nothing like the one used across the rest of the Mustang lineup. It fills up the trunk space and ford has installed a window in the rear wall of the cabin through which it can be viewed in operation. It uses two sets of springs, one of which can be compressed to lower the ride height of the vehicle for track driving.

Ford hasn’t announced all of the performance specifications, including acceleration times, but a member of the development team told American Cars And Racing that it will have a top speed of around 210 mph in the low drag mode and 187 mph in the high downforce setting.
