It’s not too often an automaker draws attention to the possibility that its vehicles might end up on the side of the road, but Rivian has a way to help keep its customers safe if one does.

The updated 2025 Rivian R1S SUV and R1T pickup are both equipped with new LED light bars at the front and the rear that can be used for more than just making the trucks look cool.

There’s a Roadside Lighting feature that can be activated when the hazard lights are turned on.

It sequentially strobes the light bar to the left or the right to help direct oncoming traffic away from the vehicle.

It even has a setting that splits it into two strobes going in each direction in case you are stopped in the middle of the road.

We’ll have a full review of the R1S soon, but check out our short video to see how the Roadside Lighting works.

Fortunately, we didn’t actually need to use it while we were testing the SUV.
