They don’t look new, but the Rivian R1T pickup and R1S SUV have been updated for 2025 with new powertrains, batteries and driver aid technology.
The models now feature Rivian-designed electric motors that deliver up to 1,025 hp in quad-motor models.
The setup also provides 1,198 lb-ft of torque in a launch mode that can accelerate the vehicles to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds.
That makes them the quickest and most powerful electric pickup and SUV on sale today.

A tri-motor powertrain with 850 hp and a dual motor version with either 665 hp or 553 hp are also avaialble.
The available lithium-ion battery packs have been re-engineered to be more energy dense with the Large and Max packs providing 330 miles and 420 miles of range in the dual-motor models.

An entry level Adventure trim with a lithium iron phosphate-based battery is rated at 270 miles of range with the 533 hp and is priced at $69,900 for an R1T and $75,900 for an R1S, not including delivery fees. That qualifies both models for the full $7,5000 federal tax credit.

Rivian has also upgraded its software platform with more powerful ECUs and has launched a new standard Rivian Autonomy Platform with 11 cameras, five radars, and “AI prediction technology” that enables blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control. A Rivian Autonomy Platform+ with Lane Change on Command and a future Enhanced Highway Assistant is also offered.

A full glass panoramic roof with a photovoltaic dimming system is available on upper trims.
The 2025 Rivian R1S has already started shipping and the R1T will follow it later this summer.
