It’s got a cop motor, it’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks … you know the drill.

A 1991 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor used in “Blues Brothers 2000” will be cruising across the block at the Mecum Auctions Indy Fall Special event in Indianapolis on Oct. 5.

The car is an authentic Police Interceptor that’s powered by a 351 cubic-inch Windsor V8 that has an extra $15,000 in it, including Edelbrock heads.

The car was featured in a scene that set a record for most cars destroyed with 104, which broke a mark of 63 established by the original “The Blues Brothers” film, which used a 1974 Dodge Monaco in the role of the Bluesmobile.

It still wears its black and white police livery with the Cook County badging scratched out and is equipped with spotlights and a rear cage. Star Dan Aykroyd owned the car after filming was done and donated it to a charity auction in 2001 where it sold for $15,100.

The winning bidders were the owners of the Slippery Noodle bar in Indianapolis, who were Blues Brothers superfans and acquaintances of Aykroyd. “Buyin’ myself a Caddy!,” Aykroyd wrote in a signed note to the buyers on the dashboard. They still own it and are the ones putting it up for sale at the event.

As for what the well documented car is worth, it’s always hard to put a value on vehicles with celebrity and Hollywood connections, especially when the film they were in wasn’t a huge hit. According to Edmunds, the range for a typical 1991 Crown Victoria is $1,356 – $7,712, but that won’t apply exactly to this example when it hits the Mecum stage.

A recent sale price that surprised was for the faux-beater Dodge Charger Daytona from the David Spade comedy “Joe Dirt” that sold for $330,000.
