Ford may be an American brand, but it’s very much a global automaker.

The company builds vehicles at factories around the world, many of which are not destined for the U.S. market, but there are a few that we wish were.

Take a look at five of our favorite examples of Ford’s foreign fruit.

RANGER SUPER DUTY

The Ford F-Series Super Duty is a very common sight on American roads, but the Ranger Super Duty was designed with Australia’s dirt roads in mind. The midsize pickup features a turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel engine that breathes through a snorkel air intake, four-wheel drive, heavy duty axles, a steel front bumper and can tow up to 10,000 pounds. It’s offered in two-door and four-door chassis cab models with tray-style beds and rides on 33-inch off-road tires.

EXPLORER (ELECTRIC)

The Ford Explorer that’s sold in the U.S. isn’t the only one. Ford sells a two-row all-electric SUV in Europe that wears the name. It’s about a foot shorter than a Mustang Mach-E and a collaboration with Volkswagen, which provides the electric chassis. Its driving range is about 320 miles per charge and Adventure traveler Lexi Alford used a fleet of five to drive around the world, exploring for places to charge along the way.

EVEREST

If you want a truck-based midsize SUV in the U.S, the Bronco is you’re only choice, but Ford sells another one in other countries. The Everest is a three-row SUV that shares its frame with the global version of the Ranger pickup and is available with gas and diesel turbocharged four-cylinder engines. An Tremor model features increased ground clearance and all-terrain tires.

NUGGET

The Nugget is a camper version of the European Transit Custom van it designed with Westfalia. It has a pop-up tent on the roof, a pull-out canopy, front seats that can swivel to face the rear and a table that can be set up between the two rows of seats. A long-wheelbase version is available with a kitchen and cabinets in the cargo area and its plug-in hybrid powertrain has an 11.8 kWh battery that can be used for off-the-grid power or driving 30 miles in all-electric mode.

Ford hasn’t sold sedans in the U.S. since 2020, but it still has a few in other countries and one of them has a very familiar name. The Taurus is the Middle East market’s version of the Mondeo midsize sedan and is offered in conventional gas and hybrid models.
