2026 Nissan Frontier PRO-4X R by Roush Proves The Old Truck Still Means Business

The 2026 Nissan Frontier is mostly a carryover version of the midsize pickup that was refreshed last year, but saw the last major updated of its nearly two decade-old chassis in 2022.
The starting price is increasing just $285 to $33,845, which might be in large part thanks to the fact that it’s made in Mississippi and not subject to any new import tariffs on completed vehicles.
Nissan tweaked the included and available features a little bit across the trims, but its 310 hp 3.8-liter V6 and nine-speed automatic transmission drivetrain remain.
The most significant mechanical update for the range is a new drive mode selector with Rock, Sand, On-Road, Mud, Hill Descent Control.

But the coolest addition to the lineup — aside from a new neon green Citrus Strike paint — is the new Frontier PRO-4X R by Roush, which is a collaboration with Roush Performance.

It’s a new package that includes a Roush Performance x Ohlins 2.0 Off-Road Suspension System, which lifts the front of the truck by two inches, adds remote reservoir coilovers and beefed-up red front control arms.

There’s also a steel skid plate, 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, corrosion-resistant black lug nuts, a titanium-painted grille and front fascia, plus Roush logos on the body and upholstery.

The MSRP is $47,960, compared to the standard PRO-4X Crew Cab’s $42,370, not including shipping fees. The one caveat is that the package is installed by Roush as an aftermarket kit and it gets a separate 3-yr/36,000 warranty from Roush.
