Elon’s Back: Tesla Just Set An All-Time Delivery Record

Tesla just rode the wave of electric car shoppers rushing to sign the paperwork on a new vehicle before the end of the federal EV tax credit on Sept. 30 to record an all-time quarterly delivery record.
Tesla delivered 497,099 vehicles globally during the period, with 481,166 of those being the Model Y and Model 3.
That was up from 336,681 and 323,800 during the first quarter, when the automaker was being slammed with protests related to CEO Elon Musk’s political activities and production downtime to accommodate a changeover to an updated Model Y, its best-seller.
Tesla does not break out sales by country or region, but independent reports suggest European sales remain down, while the recovery was primarily the result of U.S. and China sales.

The combined sales of the Model S, Model X and Cybertruck also rose from 12,881 in Q1 to 15,933 in Q3.
Musk stepped back from his work with the Trump administration in May to refocus his efforts on Tesla and his other business endeavors, including SpaceX and xAI.

Tesla’s board recently approved a new pay package for Musk that could be worth up to $1 trillion if he remains an officer through 2030 and hits a series of performance targets. It will be put up for a shareholder vote in November.
Tesla expanded the Model Y lineup this week with the addition of a Model Y Performance trim in the U.S. It starts at $59,130. it can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and has a 306-mile driving range. Tesla is planning to follow it up before the end of the year with a new, more affordable entry-level SUV that is based on the Model Y, but pricing and details have not been announced.
