Dodge Will Sell You A Funny Car For $42,995

Dodge is all about muscle cars, and there’s nothing more muscular than a drag racing funny car.
The brand sponsors Tony Stewart Racing driver Matt Hagan, who won the 2023 NHRA championship in a Direct Connection Charger SRT Hellcat-bodied car.
And when Hagan wins on Sunday, Dodge will sell you a funny car on Monday … that you can use to try to win on the next Sunday. Well, the body of a funny car.
The Direct Connection catalog sells the same shell Hagan used during his championship run for $42,995. It’s constructed of a mix of carbon fiber, kevlar, and innegra, the last of which is a lightweight polypropylene fiber.

It’s fully outfitted with burst panels for the engine and an escape hatch in the roof. Headlight and grille decals are sold separately for $1,195.

You’ll need to put a little work into it to get it ready to race, of course. That includes building a tube frame chassis and acquiring an engine, like a 11,000 hp nitro-burning 500-cubic-inch V8 or a 3,500 hp top alcohol spec motor.

If that sounds like too much power for you, Direct Connection has something else that might be more your speed.

It also sells a Charger Junior Dragster body for $3,765 that’s intended for use in the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League, which is for drivers age 5 to 17. Those cars run 5 hp single-cylinder engines and can do 1/8-mile runs in as little as 7.9 seconds.
