The 2026 Jeep Recon is set to shake up the electric vehicle segment when it goes on sale early next year.

The boxy SUV will be a serious off-roader and the only EV with removable doors, like the Jeep Wrangler’s.

The $66,995 Mexican-built Recon Moab that will be the first trim on sale will also have a powerful all-wheel-drivetrain rated at 650 hp.

While there’s nothing exactly like the Recon on sale today, there are a few EVs designed for rough roads with all-terrain tires and plenty of power on tap that are either made in USA or sold by American brands.

Here’s a look at the top trims of each model:

HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 XRT: 320 HP

The Georgia-built Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT that American Cars And Racing named the 2025 US-Built Sports Vehicle Of The YearTM was designed to drive on flat dirt roads like a rally car and its all-wheel-drive system is rated at 320 hp and 446 lb-ft.

FORD MUSTANG MACH-E RALLY: 480 HP

Like the Recon, the Mustang Mach-E Rally hails from the land of the Baja 1000 and steps things up a notch on the Ioniq 5 XRT with a 480 hp all-wheel-drive system that cranks out 700 lb-ft of torque and can accelerate it to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds when it strays onto a paved road.

CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV TRAIL BOSS: 725 HP

The Silverado EV Trail Boss gets a two-inch suspension lift compared to other trims and a set of 35-inch all-terrain tires to go with it. Opt for the Max Range battery pack and its all-wheel-drive system delivers a maximum 725 hp and 775 lb-ft and 478 miles of range.

GMC SIERRA EV AT4: 725 HP

Aside from its unique body, the GMC Sierra EV AT4 is mechanically similar to the Silverado EV Trail Boss and that includes its 725 hp, 775 lb-ft all-wheel-drive system.

TESLA CYBERTRUCK CYBERBEAST: 845 HP

The Tesla Cybertruck’s Cyberbeast trim has a tri-motor electric powertrain rated at 845 hp and 864 lb-ft that can accelerate the relative lightweight to 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.

RIVIAN R1T/R1S: 1,025 HP

The Rivian R1T pickup and R1S SUV are both offered with a range of powertrain options, but the top Quad models have four electric motors that put out a combined 1,025 hp. That’s enough for the SUV to tie the Cybertruck in a drag race to 60 mph, while the pickup can beat them both in 2.5 seconds.

GMC HUMMER EV: 1,160 HP

Like the Rivians, the GMC Hummer EV is also available as either an SUV or pickup, but one comes out on top. The tri-motor SUV maxes out at 830 hp for 2026, but the pickup is rated at 1,160 hp, which can overcome its four-and-a-half-ton weight to get it to sprint to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. While its doors don’t come off like the Recon’s, it does have a removable roof, so you can feel the wind in your hair.
