Toyota released a teaser image this week that previews the upcoming reveal of a new model, but didn’t offer any context for what it might be.
“Something New is On the Horizon,” is the seemingly generic accompanying text, although the choice to capitalize “On” but not “is” is unusual and might be intentional.
The rear is depicted in shadow in front of a, presumably, a sunrise with its taillights illuminated. The lights are two parallel strips that run the full width of the vehicle, which appears to be an SUV, and wrap around the sides at the end.
It’s possible that the angle the image was taken from conceals that it is a pickup, but the width of the greenhouse, which has roof rails and an antenna, suggests otherwise.
One Toyota creation that looks something like this was the electric bZ Large SUV concept that it revealed in 2021. It’s not a perfect match, but the taillights are very similar.

Toyota is known to be working on a new three-row electric SUV that is supposed to enter production at its factory in Kentucky this year, but there hasn’t been a recent update on the project.

The Indiana-built gas-powered Highlander is also just about due to be replaced with an all-new model, but Toyota hasn’t yet said when to expect one. Toyota will begin exporting Highlanders from the U.S. to Japan this year, however, in an effort to foster trade relations between the countries.

According to reports, all about the new model will be reveled on Feb. 10, but Toyota has not officially confirmed that date.
