2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Debuts With New 6.7-Liter V8

The Chevrolet Grand Sport is back … times two.

The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport is the first mid-engine model to wear the name and it comes powered by an all-new sixth-generation 6.7-liter V8 called the LS6, which will also be featured in the 2027 Corvette Stingray.

The engine is rated at 535 hp and 520 lb-ft courtesy of a 13:1 compression ratio, 95-mm throttle body, tunnel ram intake with high-velocity ports and that 409 cubic inches of displacement.

The Corvette Grand Sport pairs the new base engine with the Corvette Z06’s widebody design. This is the first Corvette Grand Sport since 2019. It has a standard Magnetic Ride Control touring suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires, but will be available with a Z52 Sport Performance Package that stiffens up the suspension, adds the Z06’s iron brakes and swaps on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires.

An optional Z52 Track Performance Package amps things even more with carbon ceramic brakes, a more extreme track suspension setup, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires and aerodynamic upgrades that include underbody strakes and a carbon fiber splitter, dive planes, rockers and wing rendered in carbon fiber.

Chevy will also be offering an all-wheel-drive Grand Sport X hybrid that replaces the Corvette E-Ray in the lineup. It borrows the Corvette ZR1X’s 186 hp electric motor to drive the front wheels, bringing the total output to 721 hp. A magnetic ride suspension, carbon ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tires are standard and the optional Performance Package comes with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Chevrolet hasn’t announced any performance numbers for the Corvette Grand Sport or Corvette Grand Sport X, but the 655 hp Corvette E-Ray can accelerate to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and put down a 10.5-second quarter-mile.

The classic Admiral Blue Paint has been resurrected for 2027 and there will be a selection of stripes and fender hash mark decals for the Grand Sports, the latter moved from the front to the rear in concert with the engine’s new location.
