Yes, The Grand Sport Is The Last C8 Corvette

The GAS Podcast

The Marvel Comics Universe character Silver Surfer is the herald of Galactus, whose job it is to warn worlds that they are about to come to an end at the hand of the cosmic entity.

The Grand Sport holds a similar position in the Chevrolet Corvette Universe. The enthusiast-oriented trim that bridges the Stingray and Z06 typically arrives in the lineup at or near the end of a Corvette generation.

With the Stingray, Z06, ZR1 and ZR1/X already on sale, the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and Corvette Grand Sport X appear to be the final pieces of the puzzle, which is is definitely the case.

“It’s hard to say we’re ever done, we’re never done, we’re always tweaking and improving things, but as far as a model lineup, the Grand Sport is going to round out the eighth generation of Corvette, for sure,” Corvette Chief Engineer Josh Holder said on The GAS podcast during a wide-ranging interview about the new car and its also-new 6.7-liter V8.

So, while its possible some of the models will get further updates before the ninth-generation Corvette arrives at an as-yet unspecified date, don’t expect to see an entire new variant enter the mix.

The Stingray is a great example of the possibilities, as it is being refreshed for 2027 with the same all-new 535 hp 6.7-liter V8 featured in the Grand Sport, which is a significant change from the current 495 hp 6.2-liter V8.
