Infiniti is hoping to increase sales by chopping the top of its best-selling model.
The 2027 QX65 is a new two-row, “SUV coupe” based on the popular QX60 that will compete with the likes of the BMW X6. The $55,535 five-passenger utility will be built alongside the QX60 in Smyrna, Tenn.
The QX65 is just as long as the QX60, which gives it a deep cargo area beneath its sloping rear glass. The exterior redesign goes far beyond the roofline, however, and includes a unique grill and headlights.
The QX65 will be offered in Luxe, Sport and Autograph trims, which all share the same all-wheel-drive powertrain with a 268 hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and 9-speed automatic that’s good for a 6,000-pound towing capacity. The fuel economy rating has not been finalized, but the motor uses a variable compression technology that aims to balance power and efficiency on demand.

Infiniti has created a new Sunfire Red paint with real gold-coated glass flecks that is debuting with the QX65, which shares is dashboard with with QX60. The top-of-the-line $64,135 Autograph features semi-aniline leather upholstery for its massaging front seats, open-pore wood trim and a 20-speaker Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system with speakers in the front seat headrests that can be fine-tuned individually.

The Autograph can also be equipped with the ProPILOT Assist 2.1 feature, which is Infiniti’s most capable electronic driver aid and provides hands-free driving on certain highways.
The QX65 goes on sale in April and the first deliveries are scheduled to begin this summer.
