Confirmed: Kia Pickup Coming To USA By 2030

A year after Kia announced it was planning to introduce a pickup in North America, it has put a date on its arrival.

Kia CEO Ho Sung Song announced during the company’s annual investor day presentation that a new body-on-frame truck would be launched in the market by 2030.

He also confirmed said it will be a midsize body-on-frame truck offered with hybrid and EREV (extended range electric vehicle) powertrain options.

Kia currently sells a pickup in other parts of the world called the Tasman, but it is only available with internal combustion engine powertrains and is not expected to be the basis for the new model.

The truck will need to made in North America to avoid the 25% “Chicken Tax” that applies to trucks imported from outside the region, but could be subject to other tariffs if it is not manufactured within the U.S.

Kia’s corporate cousin Hyundai is planning to introduce a U.S.-built midsize pickup within the same timeframe, so it is possible the two will share a platform or manufacturing facilities.

Kia has not yet offered any detail on those points, but is aiming to sell approximately 90,000 of the trucks annually within North America.

Kia is coming off of the best U.S. sales quarter in its history with 207,015 deliveries through the first three months of 2026.
