The Volkswagen ID. Buzz took a hiatus for the 2026 model year in the USA, but the automaker has confirmed that it will be back in the lineup for 2027 with a few changes.
The electric minivan will be offered in Pro S RWD, Pro S 4Motion, Pro S Plus 4Motion and Tourer 4Motion trims, the last of which comes with a kit that turns it into a camper.
The Tourer includes a fold out platform and mattress that fits over the second and third rows of seats when they are folded flat, blinds for the windows and vents that can be clipped into the front door windows to allow air to flow in while still providing the security of a locked vehicle.
It also comes with a table and folding chairs and an updated infotainment system with a special mode for the climate control that allows it to be used overnight, as one of the advantages that electric vehicles bring to the camping experience is the ability to keep the power on without any noise or emissions concerns.

The Tourer also features a full glass roof with electrochromic dimming, a 360 degree camera, a retractable trailer hitch with a 3,500-pound tow rating and unique 20-inch wheels, although VW has not yet released any exterior images of the model.
It also hasn’t mentioned any technical updates beyond the switch to an NACS charging port that makes it compatible with Tesla Superchargers without the need for an adapter. The 2025 ID. Buzz was rated for 234 miles of range with rear-wheel drive and 231 miles with 4motion all-wheel drive.
Pricing will be released closer to when deliveries begin, but that date has not yet been confirmed. The ID. Buzz had a starting MSRP of $59,995 in 2025 when VW sold 6,140 in the U.S.
