If you want to buy a vehicle that will be around for a long time, one brand continues to stand above the rest.
Toyota and its Lexus luxury division took 9 out of 10 spots in the latest iSeeCars.com report on the vehicles that are most likely to reach 250,000 miles.
The study looks at recent used car sales and calculates the percentage of each model that reached the milestone. While it is an indicator of reliability, it doesn’t take into account any specific maintenance that’s been done. It’s purely an indicator of what vehicles people don’t want to give up on.
The Texas-built Sequioa SUV was at the top of the list with a 39.1% chance of putting a quarter-million miles on its odometer. That’s 8.1 times the average for all vehicles.
It was followed by the Toyota 4Runner, Toyota Highlander Hybrid, Toyota Tundra, Lexus IS, Toyota Tacoma, Toyota Avalon, Lexus GX and Lexus RX before the Honda Ridgeline ruined its streak.
It’s no surprise, then, that Toyota and Lexus were the top brands overall, with Honda and Acura behind them as the only others above the industry average. GMC, Tesla, Chevrolet, Cadillac, Mazda and Ram rounded out the top 10.
As far as models from U.S. brands are concerned, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was tops at 13 with the Chevrolet Silverado next at 17. You can find the full report here complete with segment breakdowns from iSeeCars.com.
